Our sample project is now published! You’ll be able to see it sold at Amazon here. If you haven’t read the series, start reading here. In this post, I will share with you what I learned and the changes I noted.
Back Cover not Shown in Product Preview
If you recall, I mentioned that low-content books do not show the inside pages in their previews. To compensate, I showed samples of the inside pages on the back cover, expecting Amazon to show it. Why? Because my previous paperbacks’ previews were both the front and back book covers Well, they did not show it this time. Lesson: I have to find more ways to show the inside pages of low-content books.
Approval Time was more than 72 Hours
I submitted our sample project on August 28 at 11:30 PM. I received an approval email on September 2 at 11:16 PM. That around 119 hours or 4 days. Lesson: If we have publishing deadlines, it is better to submit our books for approval earlier.
New: AI and KDP
Just after I published this low-content book, KDP added a question all self-publishers must answer about Artificial Intelligence and KDP. Here is what you need to know:
If you originally created your content then used an AI to help you “edit, refine, error-check, or otherwise improve that content (whether text or images)”, Amazon KDP calls it AI-Assisted and you do not need to inform them. Read more about their updated content policy here.
Next
I wanted to end this series with practical applications for teachers but it became another series instead.
This series will cover:
How low-content books can open new income streams for teachers
TpT to KDP’s Low Content Book
Etsy to KDP
Expanding your reach - Author Central and other free marketing options
Meanwhile, I will first write a series about business systems you need to establish to maximize success. This will be posted before the KDP application series and will go out on Sunday evenings. Subscribe for free so you’ll not miss any post.
